Efeitos potenciais de arbustos do genero Cistus L. na recuperacao de solos

, : Efeitos potenciais de arbustos do genero Cistus L. na recuperacao de solos. Revista de Ciencias Agrarias 24(3-4): 347-360

Standing biomass, nutrient allocation and nutrient return to the soil through litterfall, as well as the effects on soil properties, were studied in a shrubland stand, dominated by Cistus salvifolius L. and C. ladanifer L., two typical Mediterranean shrub species in "montados". Mean annual standing biomass was 998 g m-2 for C. salvifolius and 1770 g m-2 for C. ladanifer, stems and branches making up 78 and 69% of the total, followed by leaves with 16 and 26%.
