, : Assessment of the threatened status of Testudo kleinmanni Lortet, 1883 (Testudines : Testudinidae) for the IUCN Red List. Chelonian Conservation and Biology 4(4): 891-898

Testudo kleinmanni Lortet, 1883, is one of the smallest tortoises to occur in the Mediterranean region. Its northeastern populations in the Egyptian Sinai and Israel were recently described as a separate species, Testudo werneri Perala, 2001. Testudo kleinmanni as currently defined had a historical distribution in northern coastal Egypt with two disjunct populations in Libya.
