The identity of the insect hippurus in Aelian's De natura animalium

, : The identity of the insect hippurus in Aelian's De natura animalium. Polskie Pismo Entomologiczne 74(4): 479-483

It is postulated that the insect hippurus mentioned in AELIAN'S work is a mayfly belonging to the germs Oligoneuriella. This interpretation is possible on the basis of the knowledge of feeding of trout and the history of fly fishing.
