The immune-adjuvant action of structural homologs of the Gepon immune-modulator

, : The immune-adjuvant action of structural homologs of the Gepon immune-modulator. Immunologiya 24(1): 12-15, January-February

The relation between the structure and the immune-modeling properties of preparation "Gepon", which is a synthetic tetradekaptide (HPI-14), was studied. The immune-adjuvant action of "Gepon" structural fragments in laboratory mice within the models of the primary synthesis of IgM-antibodies to the antigens of heterological erythrocytes and within the models of the secondary synthesis of IgG-antibodies to the soluble protein hetero-antigen were studied. It was established that the synthetic fragment, replicating the N-terminal (HP1-5, HP1-9, HP1-11), the C-terminal (HP10-14, HP6-14, HP4-14) as well as the central portion (HP4-11 and HP3-12) of the "Gepon" molecule, possess the immune-adjuvant action. A shortening of the "Gepon" tetradekaptide by 2 amino-acid residues from the N-terminal and by 2 amino-acid residues from the C-terminal did not violate the immune-adjuvant activity of the peptide. At the same time, a shortening of the "Gepon" tetradekaptide from each of its polypeptide chain led to an essential weakening of its immune-adjuvant properties. Pentapeptides, replicating the N- and C-terminals of the "Gepon" polypeptide chain, possess the immune-adjuvant activity comparable with "Gepon".
