Anatomical evaluation of the cross-sectional area of the tendons of the distal forelimb of donkeys (Equus asinus) used for traction

, : Anatomical evaluation of the cross-sectional area of the tendons of the distal forelimb of donkeys (Equus asinus) used for traction. Revista de Educacao Continuada do CRMV SP 8(2): 145-155

Objective: To perform an anatomical and radiographic study of the cross-section of the main tendons of distal forelimb, contribute to the clinical and surgical practice and understand the resistance of these animals to lesions when compared to horses. Materials and Methods: Forelimbs of 15 donkeys, 150 kg, of different sexes and ages were studied. The animals were fed large volume meals and were used for traction. After removing the limbs, a lateromedial radiographic projection was obtained.
