Cementing the wrong path: a case study of a rural road in Panama

, : Cementing the wrong path: a case study of a rural road in Panama. Journal of Sustainable Forestry 22(1/2): 73-92

In this paper, I describe and analyze the effects of construction of the Boquete-Cerro Punta ecological road, and conclude that the road project will not fulfill its stated purposes. Thus the continued construction of the road demonstrates the government's lack of commitment to sustainable development and conservation in the Chiriqui region and refusal to accommodate the goals and concerns of the public in a participatory political process.
