Experimental evidence for dual infection with two genetically distinguishable Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains using a guinea pig model

, : Experimental evidence for dual infection with two genetically distinguishable Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains using a guinea pig model. Indian Journal of Tuberculosis 53(2): 84-91

Aim: To investigate the phenomenon of mixed infection with the H37Rv and Kurono strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can be distinguished genetically from each other by the IS6110 restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Methods: Guinea pigs were infected with the 2 strains simultaneously or initially with H37Rv or Kurono followed by the other strain 7 or 30 days later via the airborne route.
