Cloning and expression characteristics of the ferritin gene from Malus domestica Borkh

, : Cloning and expression characteristics of the ferritin gene from Malus domestica Borkh. Acta Horticulturae Sinica 33(5): 1051-1054

A full length cDNA sequence of apple ferritin (iron-binding protein) was cloned from leaves of apple by RT-PCR. The gene was named Mdfer (Genbank accession number DQ099429) and is 1043 bp (including an open reading frame of 834 bp), coding 277 amino acids and a 209 bp non-coding 3' region after the stop codon. Southern blotting analysis suggested that there were at least 7 copies of the gene in the genome of apple.
