The Turchetta vine species

, : The Turchetta vine species. Informatore Agrario 62(6): 67-68

The vine species Turchetta was traditionally grown in Rovigo province and has been rediscovered in that region after almost disappearing from Italian vineyards. It grows well on flat clay soils, provided there is adequate drainage; it is robust and disease-resistant. With its high anthocyanin content, it produces wine of excellent colour. The sensory and chemical profiles of the wine are displayed in graphs; they bear strong similarity to those of Merlot.
