After rice seedlings were induced by spraying the fungicide propiconazole, a cDNA fragment was cloned by mRNA differential displays whose corresponding transcription was enhanced in response to chemical treatment. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that this cDNA was homologous to multiple ESTs of rice and its amino acid sequences was homologous to GMPase gene in several plants including rice on chromosome I with 100% identities. RT-PCR showed that the transcript level increased after application of exogenous propiconazole.
