, : The prevalence of intestinal parasite infections among schoolchildren of Van province, Turkey. Tropical Doctor 37(2): 123-124

A total of 867 stool samples, obtained from 558 boys and 309 girls, were examined with saline and lugol solution and trichrome staining and flotation for intestinal parasites. The schoolchildren tested came from two schools (non-boarding and boarding primary schools) in Van, Turkey. At least one parasite species was detected in 475 of 867 stool samples. The infection rate in boys (58.1%) was significantly higher than that of girls (48.9%, P=0.02).
