The nests of forest tent caterpillars on wild cherry, mulberry, willow, etc., should be destroyed by applying a burning rag or torch to the web or by squirting a little kerosene into it. Leaf-eating insects should be sprayed with lead arsenate, at the rate of 1 Ib. to 10 U.S. gals, water. Hickory trees infested with the hickory bark borer should be removed and destroyed before the emergence of the adults in June.
