An animal census of two pastures and a meadow in northern New York

, : An animal census of two pastures and a meadow in northern New York. Ecol. Monogr, 7: 1-90

A total of 6, 843 invertebrates was collected from one hundred square feet of grasslands near Barneveld, New York. The most abundant species of Lepidoptera was Feltia venerabilis which devoured nearly half of all the white clover eaten by all the insects specifically feeding on this plant. The forty-two larvae of clover-seed midge (Dasyneura leguminicola) formed one of the most important groups of Diptera.
