Anti-Bacterial Substances from Moulds. Part II. Penicillic Acid, a Metabolic Product of Penicillium puberulun Bainier and Penicillium cyclopium Westling

, : Anti-Bacterial Substances from Moulds. Part II. Penicillic Acid, a Metabolic Product of Penicillium puberulun Bainier and Penicillium cyclopium Westling. Chem. Indust, 61: 22-24

II. Antibacterial properties of cultures of P. cyclopium Westling were investigated and found to inhibit the growth of one strain of Staphylococcus aureus completely at dilutions up to 1: 80 and partially at dilutions up to 1: 320; growth of another strain of Staph. aureus was inhibited completely at dilutions up to 1: 160 and partially up to 1: 820. Tests against Bacterium coli showed that growth of this organism was inhibited completely at dilutions of 1: 110 and partially at 1: 210.
