Biotin and prevention of dermatitis in turkey poults

, : Biotin and prevention of dermatitis in turkey poults. Proc Soc Exp Biol And Med 48(2): 456-458

Day old Bronze turkeys, supplied with a simplified diet ade- quate in all known nutritive essentials, developed severe dermatitis on the feet and around the beak at 2-3 wks. of age. The dermatitis was neither prevented nor cured by riboflavin but biotin prevented it. This adds turkeys to the list of organisms for which biotin is a dietary essential.
