Effect of corticoadrenal extracts on intermediary nitrogen metabolism

, : Effect of corticoadrenal extracts on intermediary nitrogen metabolism. C.E. Soc. Biol, 127: 1146-1149

An increase in N.P.N. and urea in the blood is an early sign of insufficiency of the suprarenal cortex. This azotaemia disappears following injections of active suprarenal cortex extracts. A fall in the level of the blood N.P.N. also resulted in cases of azotaemia not caused by suprarenal insufficiency such as that found in nephritis and in conditions characterized by excessive tissue disintegration.
