II. During 1939-43, the incidences of fatal syncope and erysipelas were nearly parallel, with a peak in the months May, June and July. The fatal syncope was observed only in certain parts of the country and often in farms near to each other. The disease was accompanied by forced movements, perhaps due to lesions in the central nervous system.
