Haema-toma Disease (Haematomosis) in Cattle

, : Haema-toma Disease (Haematomosis) in Cattle. Dtsch. tierarztl. Wschr, 49: 9-10

records the frequent occurrence of subcutaneous haematomas in young cattle, 9-18 months old, towards the end of the winter. The commonest site is the thoracic or abdominal wall; other sites include the neck, shoulder, sternum, thigh, and udder. Haematological examination shows a marked fall in the red cell count and haemoglobin content. The coagulation and bleeding time are within normal limits.The aetiology of the condition is obscure.
