Data are given on the F1 of the following crosses between the sugar beets Vilmorin A and Kuhn and the forage beet Mangold: Vilmorin A x Mangold, Kuhn x Mangold and Mangold x Kuhn. Most of the characters.were intermediate. In the last cross there was a definite lowering of the sugar content.
