At the present time there are six pure-bred bisons in the forest of the Prince of Pless and four in the State Forests in Bialowieza, and also six cows with a slight admixture of American blood in Bialowieza. In addition, a number of crossbred individuals are found in the zoological gardens in Poznan and Warsaw.
