Light As A Factor Influencing The Dormancy Of Lettuce Seeds

, : Light As A Factor Influencing The Dormancy Of Lettuce Seeds. Plant Physiology 10(1): 193-196

The dormant condition in light-sensitive lettuce seeds was broken by placing seeds in an atmosphere saturated with water vapor for 24 hrs. and giving them an exposure to daylight. When the seeds were subsequently dried in the dark, or under the green rays of the spectrum they remained non-dormant, but when dried while exposed to light, or to either the red or the blue rays a high % of the seeds reverted into dormancy.
