Chermes (Gillettea) cooleyi, Gill., a native of the Rocky Mountain region, is now generally distributed throughout the United States wherever Colorado blue spruce, Sitka spruce or Engelmann's spruce grows near Douglas fir During 1933, it was found for the first time in Michigan, as a pest of nurseries and ornamental plantings.
