Metabolism of adolescent girls. 1. Basal metabolism and energy exchange

, : Metabolism of adolescent girls. 1. Basal metabolism and energy exchange. Amer. J. Dis. Child, 51: 801-815

Data are given for the B.M.R. of 34 girls between 11 and 20 years, and comparisons made with all the well-known standards. In addition, the values of total Cals. per 24 hours and Cals. per kg. per 24 hours were correlated with those for height, weight, age, and surface area. For total Cals. per 24 hours, the highest correlation coefficient was that with surface; for Cals. per kg. per 24 hours the highest (negative) coefficient was that with weight.
