Nutrition of the Pomeranian agricultural labourer

, : Nutrition of the Pomeranian agricultural labourer. Ztschr. f. Ernahrung. Supp. 2, 29

Data were collected by means of a questionnaire as to the diets of labourers on 29 Pomeranian estates. Total calories were high, 4000-5000, chiefly supplied from vegetable sources, potatoes in particular. The main sources of animal protein were pork (cured) and herrings (salted). Milk was consumed as milk soups. Fats were supplied mainly by lard and bacon, much less by butter. In isolated houses few vegetables were consumed; on large properties legumes were much grown.
