Nutritional problems and results of feeding experiments with domestic animals

, : Nutritional problems and results of feeding experiments with domestic animals. Ztschr. Zilchtung B, 35: 379-399

To determine the nutritive value of a diet low in protein but containing considerable amounts of non-protein N, feeding experiments were carried out with a full grown wether over a period of 7 months. The diet consisted of starch, straw and molasses mixture (containing 1.41 per cent. digestible protein and 6.97 per cent. digestible N material) and a small amount of yeast obtained from the first stomach of a goat. The N balance, originally at equilibrium, became positive and remained so.
