Observations on relationship of Lactobacillus acidophilus to dental caries in children during experimental feeding of candy

, : Observations on relationship of Lactobacillus acidophilus to dental caries in children during experimental feeding of candy. J. Amer. Dent. Assoc, 23: 846-851

In the routine examination of the teeth of children in a home in Ann Arbor very little evidence of caries was found, although the diet was of poor quality. There was a deficiency of calcium and phosphorus, no butter, a very limited amount of milk, oranges once a year, excess of cereals and practically no sugar. The effect on the teeth of supplying an unrestricted amount of candy was tested on an experimental group for a period of 5 months.
