Preparation of the site is unnecessary except to clip a small area for easy identification; disinfection is contraindicated since oedema may be caused. Measuring the skin is not recommended. Injection should be made into the deeper layers of the skin, and can be checked by the swelling which quickly follows and the small pin-point of coagulum which is present 48 hours later.
