Salmon liver and salmon egg oils. Vitamin content and chemical and physical properties

, : Salmon liver and salmon egg oils. Vitamin content and chemical and physical properties. Indust. Eng. Chem, 26: 446-449

Oils prepared from the livers and eggs of salmon were tested biologically by incorporation in the diet of rats which had ceased to grow on the basal diet alone, comparison being made with an average sample of cod liver oil, similarly administered. The salmon liver oils possessed from 5 to 20 times the vitamin A potency of the cod liver oil but the salmon egg oils never more than equalled it.
