Some effects of high fat diets on intestinal elimination. 1

, : Some effects of high fat diets on intestinal elimination. 1. Amer. J. Digest. Dis, 10: 266-270

Rats were fed on. diets containing varying amounts of such fats as lard, cottonseed oil, linseed oil, menhaden oil, " crisco", bayberry tallow, cocoa butter and tributyrin. None of the fats in 20 per cent. concentration in the diet caused diarrhoea. Constipation occurred only with cocoa butter and bayberry tallow, possibly due to forma-tion of soaps. Even 2 ml. doses of castor oil by stomach tube failed to purge rats, -R.
