Summer Fumigation of the Pear

, : Summer Fumigation of the Pear. Italia agric, Piacenza, 6

As a result of the success attending winter fumigation with hydro-cyanic acid gas against Epidiaspis piricola, Del Guerc., in North Italy, experiments on the same lines have been made in summer. The measure has proved a practicable one, no harm being caused to pear trees even at the maximum dose of 6 grams of sodium cyanide per cubic metre at a temperature of 22-23 degrees C., and quite as effective, a mortality of 997 per mille being attained.
