The Apple Blossom Weevil, A. pomorum. A preliminary Communication on the experimental Years 1935 and 1936

, : The Apple Blossom Weevil, A. pomorum. A preliminary Communication on the experimental Years 1935 and 1936. Anz. Schadlingsk, Berlin, March- 13: 3-4, 31-32, 52-55

The author disagrees with the view that Anthonomus pomorum, L., is not injurious to apple in Germany and states that it has caused considerable loss of crop in recent years. Laboratory and field experiments made in 1935 and 1936 showed that the weevils can be killed by spraying in spring when they are feeding prior to oviposition. Stomach poisons proved ineffective because there was little feeding on the surface of the leaves and buds, but contact insecticides gave satisfactory results.
