A review of relevant literature, mostly of the last decade. The following aspects are dealt with: -The development and structure of the gonads of domestic animals: size and weight of gonads (mainly Krupski's data); the nature and function of sex-hormones in general; sex-hormones of domesticated mammals, viz. the hormone (bull, ram), the follicular hormone (cow, mare, sow), the corpus luteum hormone; the time of onset of activity of the mammalian gonad.
