, : The chemistry of Vitamin E. 34. The three dimethylethyltocols. J. Amer. Chem. Soc, 64: 445-447

34. The three dimethylethyltocols were prepared by the condensation of phytol with the appropriate dimethylethylhydroquinones in zinc chloride acetic acid solution. 7-Ethyl-5: 8-dimethyltocol posessed low vitamin activity but the other two were about half as active as alpha -tocopherol.
