Very good results were obtained in the combined control of C arpocapsa and scab in an orchard containing 295 Williams Bon Chretien pear trees at Ampuis (Rhone Valley) in the spring of 1928 IR.A.M., i, p. 110). The trees were sprayed first on 16th April after petal fall, and again a fortnight later, with a mixture consisting of 1 kg. copper sulfate, 3 kg. powdered hydrated lime (1.5 to 2 kg. is sufficient), 0.750 kg. lime arsenate (paste), 0.100 kg. casein, and 1001. water.
