Vegetation on Avarsky hrinok near Bina in southern Slovakia

, : Vegetation on Avarsky hrinok near Bina in southern Slovakia. Veda prir, 18: 164-6

A steppe association in southern Slovakia studied in 1936 is described. Stipa capillata is dominant and the following herbage plants are also present: Cynodon dactylon, Andropogon ischaemum, and Festuca pseudodalmatica. A ndropogonischaemum although more drought resistant, occurs rarely on eastern slopes because Stipa has formed a closed growth there. On western slopes Andropogon is spreading because Stipa does not tolerate the higher humidity.
