Investigations of height and form were made in 1943 and 1950 on trees of different European provenance sown in 1940 at the Petawawa Forest Experiment Station. The most promising strains were those from E. Prussia, Poland and Latvia. Plantations of proved Baltic origin from seed imported in 1930 are found in E.
