Cotton cultivation in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan

, : Cotton cultivation in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. Cot. Fib. trop, 2: 67-74

In Anglo-Egyptian Sudan cotton is cultivated in four principal regions: Gezira, the delta of the Gash, the Tokar region and on the Nubian mountains. In the three first zones cotton is of the Egyptian type; in Nubia an American cotton is cultivated. The system of cultivation in Gash and Tokar is almost unique as it utilizes the water of torrents which are dry but for a few months of the year.
