Development of the typical Beech-tree in selection forest.

, : Development of the typical Beech-tree in selection forest.. Bull. Soc. for. Belg, 58: 10, 415-20

A number of Beeches of all sizes, both felled and standing, were measured in a Beech forest in the Ardennes, and from the data so obtained, typical dimensions for well developed trees of 4 girth classes (g.b.h. 0.65, 1.10, 1.65 and 2.35 m. respectively) were deduced. For each of these classes the following data are given: d.b.h., crown diameter/d.b.h., crown length/total height, crown length/crown diameter.
