In patients treated with folic acid the reticulocyte response and initial rise in haemoglobin were in all cases equal to a satisfactory response to liver therapy. Four patients later showed failure of the blood count to return quickly to normal; 2 of these failures were due to inadequate dosage, and one to iron deficiency; the fourth responded slowly, and was apparently uninfluenced by the addition of liver therapy.
