Ploughing in straw

, : Ploughing in straw. Herts. W.A.E.C. Mo. Notes Nov, 3

Two methods of overcoming certain mechanical difficulties involved in ploughing in combined straw are, fitting a plough with either wavy discs or the Stute Trash Guard. The corrugations of the way discs being forced against the soil keep the discs continually in rotation, so preventing the straw from driving up. The best results have been obtained by fitting these discs to single-arm coulters. This obviates trapping short pieces of straw under the arms.
