Presence of a growth inhibiting substance in raw soybeans

, : Presence of a growth inhibiting substance in raw soybeans. Proc Soc Exptl Biol And Med 62(1): 10-12

A growth-inhibiting substance, present in raw soybeans, is a protein which was concentrated in a fraction soluble at pH 4.2 and pH 6.7 and precipitated at 2.7 M ammonium sulfate. It inhibited growth when added to a diet in which casein or heated soybean protein was the protein source. It was inactivated by moist heat.
