3-imino ethyl-5-methyl tetronic acid did not affect the growth of the main root of peas cultured asceptically of Knop's medium at 10 mg%, leaves became yellow at 2.5 mg% and completely colourless at 10 mg%, the weight of lateral roots was reduced 50% by 5.45 mg%.
