Sampling leaf circles, volumetric estimation, and inter- pretation of foliar diagnosis, with reference to fertilizer control in the cultivation of sugar cane.

, : Sampling leaf circles, volumetric estimation, and inter- pretation of foliar diagnosis, with reference to fertilizer control in the cultivation of sugar cane.. Rev. Agric. Maurice, 26: 12-33

In previous researches the whole lamina of the third leaf was analysed, but the method in which circles, 7 mm. in diameter, are punched from the leaf parenchyma has been adopted as more suitable. When the canes are at the height of their growth each field should be sampled twice at intervals of a month to eliminate the effect of atmospheric changes and to reduce errors. Methods for the determination of N, P, K, Ca and Mg are described and discussed in detail.
