In the perfused bovine mammary gland, the administration of 120 to 160 units of insulin markedly reduced the percentage of lactose in the milk and caused an accumulation of glycogen in the tissue, which was due apparently to blocking of glyeogenolysis rather than to the glycogenic properties of insulin.
