Susceptibility of hybrid and standardbred chicks exposed to infection by the tapeworm, Raillietlna cesticillus (Molin, 1858)

, : Susceptibility of hybrid and standardbred chicks exposed to infection by the tapeworm, Raillietlna cesticillus (Molin, 1858). Trans. Amer. micr. Soc, 69: 353-356

SIGNIFICANTLY greater numbers of tapeworm developed in hybrid De Kalb 105 cockerels than in New Hampshire broiler-type cockerels exposed to similar infection for a 4-wk. test period. Weight gains, however, were not significantly different in the 2 groups. This suggests that the hybrids, although less resistant to the entrance of infection, possess greater resistance to its effects. A. P.
