The maintenance of a strain of Trypanosoma simiae in rabbits: the effect of splenectomy on the course of infection

, : The maintenance of a strain of Trypanosoma simiae in rabbits: the effect of splenectomy on the course of infection. Annals of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology 47(3): 324-334

In two domestic pigs infected with T. simiae by the bite of wild Glossina morsitans obtained from an area where wart-hog are numerous, trypanosomes were found in the blood-stream five days later. One pig died on the eighth day, and the other on the ninth. A sheep inoculated with the blood of one of these pigs had a scanty parasitaemia for 11 days, after which no parasites were observed.
