Vegetable rotation studies in Connecticut. 3. Effect of sweet corn and vetch on the growth of several crops which follow

, : Vegetable rotation studies in Connecticut. 3. Effect of sweet corn and vetch on the growth of several crops which follow. Proc. Amer. Soc. hort. Sci, 65: 324-30. bibl. 5

In trials during 1953-4, vegetable crops were sown in spring, following autumn-sown winter cover crops of vetch or rye, or after fallow during the winter. Crops grown during the previous season included sweet-corn. Lettuce and onions grown during the season after sweet-corn were stunted, owing to root injury. Beet plants were initially retarded in growth, but recovered and made normal growth.
