, : Australian mosquitoes described by Macquart. I. Species in the Paris Museum, Aedes (Finlaya) alboannulatus (Macquart), Aedes (Finlaya) rubrithorax (Macquart), Aedes (Ochlerotatus) albirostris (Macquart). New synonymy and a new species from New Zealand. Proc. Linn. Soc. N. S. W, Linn. Soc. N. S. W.,Sydney, Australia: 85: 1, 107-116

The following is based largely on the authors' synopsis. The type material of the three species described by Macquart as Culex alboannulatus, C. rubrithorax and C. albirostris, respectively, was examined and compared with specimens from the Australian region. All belong to the genus Aedes. A. (Finlaya) alboannulatus was described from a single female, and the identification of the species has never been in doubt. A redescription of it was recently published.
