The Latvian White breed group is a bacon-type of pig developed from Long-eared and Short-eared Latvian pigs crossed with Berkshires of the old type and later with Short-eared Whites introduced into Latvia about the end of the 19th century; high grade Berkshires were crossed with Large Whites.
