In these experiments the 2 most promising deodorizing treatments of the earlier study were combined. A cold storage chamber kept at 8 degrees C. and 70% R.H. was washed inside at intervals with 16% calcium chloride and coated with lard-impregnated paper. Air contamination by volatile substances from apples, oranges, potatoes and onions was determined regularly by means of potassium permanganate solution, and flavour was tested in these products and in the butter and eggs stored with them.
